At Home: Seminole Reservations
The first Seminole reservation was established in 1892. Since then the reservation system has grown with the Tribe to incorporate six separate reservations in Florida. In this banner exhibition, the history of each reservation is explored and illustrated by historical and modern photographs of the reservation. Discover the attributes that make each reservation part of the Seminole Tribe of Florida while retaining the unique characteristics that make it home. This exhibition is on loan from the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Seminole Indian Museum.
Elgin Jumper, a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida as well as a member of the Otter Clan, is a poet, a short story writer, an essayist, and an artist. Jumper’s bold, colorful paintings depict the Seminole people, their community and surrounding landscape.

Exploring identity and culture, Jessica Osceola is working on a body of work that includes clay and cast metal. In addition to contemporary works of art, Osceola continues to practice Seminole tribal arts that include sewing traditional clothing, basketry, doll making, and beadwork. She sometimes blends the two worlds to create an unexpected perspective.
